Friends around the world doing strange, exciting or simply good things:

Sticky Business: honey and other bee products from Cameroon
Now that I've begun research for my book on Cameroon, I come across the most amazing people and projects. With my friend Verina Ingram I will soon be visiting this honey project she is working on. The website is a blog by her colleague Rebecca Howard.

Toto Knits: ethically made children's wear
My friend Erin Brennan in Nairobi works with a group of women from Dagoretti (an informal settlement in Nairobi) to make funky children's knitwear.

Natasja van den Berg
with whom I co-authored Praktisch idealisme and Fairshopping and who never sits still. Check out her site or google her to see what she's up to this time. Our latest joint project - though more hers than mine due to my move to Cameroon - was the Llink website JuistNu.nl, a database of tips which goes with the last edition of Praktisch Idealisme, Lijfboek voor wereldverbeteraars.

NairoBits
about whom I'm writing a book, commissioned by NairoBits' founders Butterfly Works. A web design school in Nairobi for youth from the slums. For more info... well, you'll have to wait until the book is out!

Butterfly Works
like I said, founded NairoBits. But by now, they've done so many interesting, innovating, inspiring projects it would be unfair not to mention them separately.

Elena Simons
and I went to the same school and I just seem to keep running into her. She has one of those minds that work like a ping-pong ball; you can never really predict where it's going next. Inspiring.

Lekker Leven
(In Dutch!) An initiative by Dutch political party GroenLinks. And check out the columns...
